We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our busy lumber yard. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a solid work ethic, and experience in retail, construction materials, or yard operations. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager to ensure efficient operations, excellent customer service, and a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily operations, including inventory management and order fulfillment
- Supervise and support staff, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and loading
- Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate stock replenishment
- Help train new employees and enforce company policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized store/yard
- Step in to manage operations in the absence of the Manager
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in lumber, building materials, or a related industry preferred
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment (or willingness to be trained)
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic computer skills for inventory and sales systems
Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
